Bangladesh will hold a three-day international stakeholders conference in Cox’s Bazar from 25 August, setting the stage for a high-level Rohingya crisis summit on 30 September in New York during the UN General Assembly.
The Cox’s Bazar event at Hotel Baywatch in the Inani area of Ukhia upazila marks the eighth anniversary of the mass Rohingya influx. Ministers, foreign delegates, UN agency representatives, and international envoys will gather to mobilize fresh funding and strengthen efforts toward the eventual repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
Under the banner “Partner Dialogue,” five working sessions on 24-25 August will explore humanitarian assistance frameworks, legal and logistical steps for repatriation, and strategies to enhance coordination among stakeholders. Cultural programs and an exhibition showcasing camp conditions will accompany the discussions, followed by on-site visits to refugee settlements on 26 August.
These discussions will inform the high-level conference in New York on 30 September, designed to produce a comprehensive roadmap for a durable, rights-based solution to the Rohingya crisis.
