The Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has announced that its second newly purchased vessel, MV Banglar Nabojatra, is ready for sea trials. Built at Nanyang Shipyard in China, the ship will begin trial runs in mid-December with participation from BSC’s expert team and shipyard engineers. Any detected faults will be corrected before the vessel is officially handed over.

If all goes smoothly, the ship will begin international cargo transport under the Bangladeshi flag at the start of next year.

Key Specifications of MV Banglar Nabojatra

  • Draft: 13.5 meters
  • Carrying Capacity: 63,500 tons
  • Length: 199.99 meters
  • Width: 32.26 meters

With the addition of this vessel, BSC’s fleet will expand to seven ships. After a six-year pause since 2019, the state-owned corporation initiated the acquisition of two new ships this year. Officials estimate that the two vessels could increase annual revenue by more than 2 billion taka.
