Bangladesh Sets New Record as Over 750,000 Workers Head to Saudi Arabia in 2025

Bangladesh sent more than 750,000 workers to Saudi Arabia in 2025, the highest number ever deployed to a single country in one year, according to the nation’s labor bureau. The milestone underscores the Kingdom’s continued role as the top destination for Bangladeshi migrant workers.

Saudi Arabia is home to about 3.5 million Bangladeshis, who collectively send back more than five billion dollars annually. Bangladeshis have been part of the Saudi workforce since the 1970s and now form the largest expatriate community in the Kingdom.

In 2025, more than two thirds of the 1.1 million Bangladeshis who went abroad chose Saudi Arabia. Officials say the latest figure marks a 16 percent rise from 2024, when roughly 628,000 workers made the same journey.

Ashraf Hossain, additional director general of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, said the scale of deployment is unprecedented. He noted that Bangladesh has been prioritizing skilled migration, especially after Saudi Arabia introduced its Skill Verification Program in 2023 to ensure higher professional standards in its labor market.

To meet the growing demand, Bangladesh has expanded its network of certification centers. Hossain said the country now has 28 Saudi approved facilities capable of certifying up to 60,000 skilled workers each month, a dramatic increase from the previous capacity of around 1,000 per month.

Authorities have also begun offering training in mining, aiming to prepare workers for opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s expanding industrial sectors.
