The Bangladeshi government has launched emergency hotlines to assist its nationals currently in Iran and their families in Bangladesh, as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East intensifies.
The hotlines are operational at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ headquarters in Dhaka, aiming to provide urgent support to Bangladeshis in need. A foreign ministry press release on Monday urged expatriates and their relatives to use these contact numbers for immediate assistance.
Bangladeshi citizens in Iran and their families are advised to reach out via the designated mobile numbers, which are also accessible through WhatsApp.
The emergency contact numbers for the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran are: +989308773768 and +989122055455. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka can be contacted at: +8801712012847.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of all Bangladeshis abroad through proactive diplomatic and consular support, the press release added.
Official data indicates that fewer than 2,000 Bangladeshis currently reside in Iran, while approximately 50,000 are living in neighboring Iraq.
