The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes in all divisions, including Dhaka, over the next 24 hours starting from 9 am on Saturday.

A Met office bulletin stated, “Light to moderate rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely at most places in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions. Some areas may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.”

The bulletin explained that the monsoon trough axis runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and across the southern part of Bangladesh, with an associated trough extending up to the North Bay.

It added that the monsoon remains fairly active over Bangladesh and is strong over the North Bay. Day temperatures might decrease slightly, while night temperatures are expected to stay nearly the same throughout the country.

As of 6 am Saturday, Satkhira recorded the highest rainfall in 24 hours, with 129 millimeters.
