Bangladesh’s Interim Government Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain held a bilateral meeting with Hadja Lahbib, the European Union’s Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 23.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions covered a wide range of issues, including good governance, women’s empowerment, disaster preparedness, climate resilience and the Rohingya crisis. Hossain expressed gratitude for the EU’s continued support in Bangladesh’s reform process and humanitarian assistance, while reaffirming the country’s readiness to deepen cooperation in shared priority areas.
Meanwhile, Interim Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus received an invitation to join Club de Madrid, the world’s largest forum of democratic leaders, from the organisation’s president and former Slovenian president Danilo Türk. The invitation was extended during a meeting in New York on Wednesday, September 24.
Club de Madrid works to strengthen inclusive democratic practices and promote global welfare by drawing on the experience of former presidents and prime ministers.
