The government has approved a special allocation of Tk 71 crore 98 lakh 28 thousand to install CCTV cameras at highly important and vulnerable polling centres ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election. A total of 21,946 centres will be brought under this enhanced surveillance system.
The decision was made on Tuesday (20 January) during the 119th meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganisation (NIKAR), which also marked the first meeting of the interim government. The meeting was chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Following the session, the Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar, confirmed the development during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka.
