Australia has added to its medal tally at the Paris Olympics with Christopher Burton claiming silver in individual eventing.

Australia’s Christopher Burton has won silver in equestrian individual eventing at the Paris Olympics. Amazingly, he’s only been riding his horse, Shadow Man, for five months. His win brings Australia’s overall medal tally at the Paris Olympics to seven.

The 42-year-old Queenslander had ditched show jumping for another shot at eventing this year, and his switch paid off handsomely as he steered his brilliant new partner Shadow Man to second place on Monday.

Meanwhile, the great rivalry between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has had its likely final chapter at Roland-Garros, and Australia took down Ireland in the women’s rugby sevens. Earlier, Australian boxer Harry Garside lost his opening bout in Paris and failed to secure a bronze medal in Tokyo, with the Opals losing their opening Olympic match against Nigeria.
