Australians who are stuck in Gaza have been told to cross the border with Egypt at Rafah once it opens to visitors.
Following an agreement reached between the US and Israel, Egypt has permitted the first foreign nationals to exit Gaza through its border, according to AFP. On Wednesday local time, 400 foreigners and dual nationals as well as 90 sick and injured people were anticipated to depart. The number of individuals who were able to exit through Rafah was not immediately known, but live video from the location showed large crowds of people entering the terminal’s Palestinian side. The names of an unspecified number of Australians who are stranded in the besieged area have been informed that they are “on the initial list of approved Australians” to enter Egypt.
