A high‑level Australian delegation has visited the Sirajganj Economic Zone (SEZ) as part of efforts to strengthen international investment and bilateral cooperation. The visit took place on Sunday, April 12, during a meeting at the SEZ corporate office in Dhaka’s Banani, where both sides discussed expanding economic ties between Bangladesh and Australia.
The delegation included former New South Wales Minister and former President of the Legislative Council Hon. John Ajaka, City of Canterbury–Bankstown Councillor George Zakhia, Australia Bangladesh Business Forum (ABBF) President Abdul Khan Ratan, and Liberal Party Lakemba Branch President and former councillor Mohammad Zaman Titu.
Representatives from the Sirajganj Economic Zone including Director Sheikh Monowar Hossain, CEO Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Engineer Riaz Ahmed Jaber, and Chief of Admin & HR Nesar Ahmed Julius welcomed the delegation.
During the meeting, CEO Humayun Kabir delivered a detailed presentation outlining the SEZ’s vision, ongoing development progress, and future investment prospects. A corporate video showcased infrastructure upgrades, industrialisation plans, and expansion strategies. The delegation was also shown an interactive map highlighting plot layouts, land allocation processes, and industrial setup possibilities features that reportedly increased their interest.
The session concluded with a cordial exchange led by Director Sheikh Monowar Hossain, followed by a formal goodwill ceremony.
According to meeting sources, discussions were productive, with the Australian delegation expressing optimism about future investment opportunities in Bangladesh. SEZ officials believe that such international engagement will further strengthen Bangladesh–Australia trade and investment relations in the coming years.
