Australia is in the rythm

Australia’s World Cup campaign is back on track after Josh Inglis steered the five-time champions towards a tense five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Monday.

Australia’s run chase got off to a nervy start, with Sri Lankan quick Dilshan Madushanka tearing the heart out of Australia’s top order in a blistering opening spell. However, fifties for Mitchell Marsh (52 off 51 balls) and Inglis, along with a late blitz from Glenn Maxwell, ensured Australia chased the target with more than 14 overs in hand, boosting their net run rate.

Having secured their first victory of the tournament, Australia slides up to eighth on the World Cup ladder, while Sri Lanka is reeling down in ninth after suffering their third consecutive defeat.

Inglis, parachuted into the side at the expense of incumbent gloveman Alex Carey, blasted 58 (59) as Australia successfully chases the 210-run target with 88 balls to spare.
