At Least 39 Bangladeshi Nationals Deported from the US Arrive Home

At least 39 Bangladeshis expelled from the United States for illegal residence have arrived in Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi nationals landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Saturday morning, August 2, according to Immigration Police officials.

Earlier, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated on Friday that 61 Bangladeshi nationals were scheduled to be deported aboard a US military aircraft. However, media reports confirm that only 39 individuals ultimately arrived in Bangladesh.

The deportations are part of a broader effort by the US government to crack down on undocumented immigrants, a policy that intensified under the administration of former President Donald Trump. Since then, citizens from various countries found living illegally in the US have been repatriated in large numbers. Bangladesh has regularly experienced such deportations, with the US returning a total of 118 Bangladeshi nationals in similar circumstances over time.

Officials say these deportations reflect ongoing efforts to tighten immigration enforcement and address irregular migration patterns, even as many Bangladeshi expatriates continue to seek better opportunities abroad.
