At least 22 people lost their lives due to heavy rain, lightning and hail in some districts including Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Officials on Saturday expressed fear that the death toll may rise due to adverse weather conditions in the province.

The Quetta Valley received heavy rains, thundershowers and hailstorms almost throughout the day with light breaks, state news agency Dawn said. As a result, the main roads and roads there have been submerged in water. The flash floods washed away numerous houses and caused massive traffic jams in various areas.

A large tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LPG) from Iran overturned on the Quetta-Taftan highway in Balochistan’s Noshki district. The tanker overturned in the current as the highway was submerged in flood water. The tanker was swept off the main highway by flash floods and the driver lost control of the vehicle. Later the tanker was swept away by the current. However, the driver and other people managed to get out safely.
