Chief of Army Staff General Wakar-Uz-Zaman met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday to discuss the military’s role in supporting the civil administration during the current political climate.
According to the Chief Adviser’s press wing, Prof Yunus expressed gratitude for the army’s continued contribution to maintaining law and order. He stressed the importance of streamlining this role with a clearly defined command structure and close coordination among all security forces in the months leading up to the national elections.
Reaffirming his commitment to a credible and inclusive vote, Prof Yunus said the upcoming election should be marked by high voter turnout, greater participation from women and first-time voters, international confidence in safety, and an atmosphere that celebrates democracy and the rule of law.
General Wakar-Uz-Zaman assured the Chief Adviser of the army’s full cooperation with the Interim Government’s initiatives. He also urged Prof Yunus to disregard circulating rumours, stating, “The entire army is committed to making the government successful in all its initiatives and programmes.”
