Argentina’s women’s football team is riding a wave of impressive form in the ongoing Copa America in Ecuador. The Albiceleste have won all four group stage matches, securing their spot in the semifinals with a perfect record. Their latest victory came yesterday (Thursday) when they defeated host Ecuador 2-0.

In a match played at the Independiente del Valle stadium, Argentina took an early lead in the 19th minute through Kishni Nunez. The visitors doubled their advantage in the second half when substitute Florence Bonsegundo scored with her first touch after coming on, sealing the win.

Argentina began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Uruguay, followed by wins against Chile (2-1) and Peru (1-0). All matches were held at the same venue in Ecuador.

Currently, Argentina tops the group with 12 points, having won all four matches. Uruguay is second with 7 points and has also qualified for the knockout stage. Chile is in fifth place with 6 points and still in contention, while Ecuador and Peru have already exited the tournament.

Looking ahead, Argentina’s focus is now on reaching the final. Their semifinal opponent will be decided based on the outcome of the match between Brazil, with 9 points, and Colombia, with 7 points. Venezuela, in third place with 4 points, has a slim chance to advance, primarily due to goal difference.
