Alice Teague-Neeld has been officially recognized as a world-class wing attack, earning her first selection in the Australian netball squad. The 29-year-old Fever star joins defender Sunday Aryang in the 18-player team set to compete against South Africa and New Zealand starting in October.
This marks Teague-Neeld’s debut in the national squad, after being an invitee to the training camp for the past two years. Her inclusion comes after an outstanding season where she led Super Netball in goal assists with 315 and centre pass receives with 292, helping her team, the minor premiers, secure top position.
Teague-Neeld’s rise follows her transition from goal attack, a position she was recruited for at Fever from Collingwood in 2019, to a key midcourt player under coach Dan Ryan. Her development has caught the attention of selectors, and coach Stacey Marinkovich praised her growth, saying, “Alice has had two years as an invitee and she’s really come into the environment and evolved those connections.”
Joining her in the squad are fellow Western Australians Courtney Bruce and Sophie Garbin, while WA shooter Donnell Wallam has been invited as a train-on. The selection underscores Teague-Neeld’s rise from a promising player to a national representative, highlighting her significant impact this season.
