The official draw for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 took place in Sydney on Tuesday, though Bangladesh was the only team that did not send a representative to the ceremony.
Scheduled from March 1 to 21, 2026, the tournament will be hosted across Australia, with matches held in Sydney, Perth, and the Gold Coast. Several venues chosen for the event previously hosted matches during the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, highlighting the tournament’s prominence.
Group B is set to be fiercely competitive. North Korea, the most successful nation in the tournament’s history with nine titles, makes a return to the continental stage with high hopes. China, the reigning champions and three-time winners overall, bring a wealth of experience. Uzbekistan, an emerging side, also aims to advance beyond the group stage.
For Bangladesh, this marks a historic debut at the Asian Cup. While facing tough opponents from well-established teams, simply qualifying is a significant milestone for women’s football in the country.
The groups are as follows:
Group A: Australia, South Korea, Iran, Philippines
Group B: North Korea, China, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan
Group C: Japan, Vietnam, India, Chinese Taipei
