ABJA observes International Mother Language Day

In an effort to get back to its previous rythme, the Australia-Bangladesh Journalists’ Association has observed the International Mother Language Day this year.

On the evening of February 26 (Monday), a discussion meeting was held on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day at the Dhanshiri Function Center in Sydney under the initiative of the Australia-Bangladesh Journalists Association.

Ekushey Medal recipient SM Abraham Lincoln and senior reporter and journalist leader of Bangladesh News Agency Ataur Rahman were present as guests and discussants in this meeting held under the chairmanship of Mohammad Abdul Matin, president of the organization.

Habib Hasan Tulu recited from the Holy Quran at the beginning of the meeting at the presentation of Akidul Islam, one of the members of the executive council of the organization. After the National Anthem of Bangladesh, condolences were presented for the deaths of journalists killed in Palestine and prayers and a minute of silence were observed for those killed in the language movement.

Senior vice president Mohammad Aslam Molya, SM Didar Hossain and Dilara Jahan gave a welcome speech on behalf of the association. Also, on behalf of the association, SM Abraham Lincoln and Ataur Rahman were given felicitation crests.

Among the other guests and prominent people of Sydney spoke – brave freedom fighters SM Harun or Rashid Lal, Dr. Sirajul Haque, Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Nirmal Pal, AKM Fazlul Haque Shafiq, Arifur Rahman Khadem, Apu Sarwar, Mostafizur Rahman Manju etc.
