AB de Villiers Celebrates New Milestone with World Champions of Legends Title

2 min read

For cricket enthusiasts, this year marks a special moment for AB de Villiers. After a long wait and heartbreak over not clinching the international cricket crown, the legendary South African batsman has begun a new chapter this time beyond the cricket field. His recent triumph comes in the form of winning the ‘World Champions of Legends’ tournament.

Held at the Sydney Cricket Ground, this event saw former cricketers from around the world compete together. In the final, Pakistan Champions posted 195 runs for five wickets in twenty overs. But it was AB de Villiers who stole the show with a blistering century in just 19 balls, guiding his team closer to the trophy. Throughout the league, de Villiers scored a total of three centuries, including the final, setting a record for the most centuries in a single edition of this tournament. His explosive 47-ball 120 against Pakistan proved that age is merely a number.

Meanwhile, the World Legends League has faced controversy, especially involving Pakistan. India Legends refused to play against Pakistan, primarily boycotting the match. After boycotting the group-stage matches, India’s team also declined to participate in the semi-final when the India-Pakistan clash was scheduled, allowing Pakistan to advance directly to the final. This situation drew criticism from all sides, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) condemning the organizers. In a statement, PCB expressed concerns that several decisions by the organizers had compromised the integrity and environment of the tournament, raising questions about the event’s fairness.
