The world has transformed into a global village, where the demand for international cooperation is vast and pressing. In this context, the role of Bangladeshi expatriates has become ever more significant. Their engagement can play a pioneering role in the development of their homeland. With this vision in mind, the Australia Bangladesh Business Council (ABBC) organized a special event titled “Engaging Expatriates in the Era of Internationalism.”

On April 3, 2025, at the Park Hyatt Hotel, this gathering provided a platform for deep discussions on the role of Bangladeshi expatriates in the international community.

Distinguished guests included Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Bangladesh Government, and the newly appointed High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Australia, Hon. F.M. Borhan Uddin. They highlighted the significance of expatriates’ contributions and the potential for the future. Professor Chowdhury emphasized the achievements of the current interim government’s leader, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and called for increased engagement from expatriates in the mission to build a new Bangladesh.

High Commissioner F.M. Borhan Uddin discussed the contributions of international expatriates and their future roles, noting that their cooperation would expedite the country’s development.

The event also featured successful Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and leaders from various sectors, including Mr. Tanveer Shahid, Director of International Student Recruitment at Macquarie University, who spoke about fostering connections between Bangladesh and Australia, immigration policies, and international education.

Organized by the ABBC, this meeting created opportunities for Bangladeshi expatriates to express their loyalty and support for their motherland. It is hoped that this initiative will significantly contribute to Bangladesh’s administrative, economic, and cultural development.

In closing remarks, ABBC Chairperson Faiz Dewan thanked everyone for their participation, stating that the council has been actively involved in Bangladesh-Australia bilateral trade for nearly two decades and remains committed to further constructive efforts in the future. The event concluded with a dinner and the presentation of honor plaques.

This gathering has sparked a new dialogue among Bangladeshi expatriates, demonstrating their immense role in the era of internationalism.
