Massive Fire at Croydon Park Sends Thick Smoke Across Adelaide

1 min read

Emergency crews are battling a large fire at Croydon Park in Adelaide’s north west, with a towering column of smoke visible from multiple suburbs. Police have closed several roads around the intersection of Regency Road and South Road as firefighters work to contain the blaze.

Authorities warned that the thick black smoke could severely reduce visibility. They urged drivers to avoid the area and follow detours while the North South Motorway off ramp closure remains in place.

The Metropolitan Fire Service confirmed it is a structure fire and said the smoke is drifting in a south westerly direction. Residents have been advised to stay alert to the health impacts of smoke, especially those with respiratory conditions.

People across Adelaide have reported seeing the plume from surrounding suburbs and even from Gilles Plains and One Tree Hill, highlighting the scale of the incident.
