Thousands Gather Outside Evercare Hospital After Khaleda Zia’s Passing

BNP Chairperson and three‑time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at 6 a.m. on Tuesday at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. As news of her death spread, thousands of grieving supporters began gathering outside the hospital. The sorrow on their faces was unmistakable, and a heavy silence descended over the entire hospital grounds.

Authorities have announced that on Wednesday at 11 a.m., Khaleda Zia’s body will be taken to the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. Despite being informed that there would be no opportunity to view her body at the hospital, people from distant districts especially many senior BNP activists continued to arrive to pay their respects.

State Preparations for Funeral and Burial
Security agencies and relevant state departments are making preparations to ensure that Khaleda Zia’s funeral and burial proceed smoothly. The information was shared in a post from the Chief Adviser’s official Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon (30 December).

According to the announcement, Khaleda Zia’s janaza will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. after Zuhr prayers at the South Plaza of the National Parliament and the adjacent Manik Mia Avenue. She will then be buried beside her husband, Shaheed President and freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman.

Authorities confirmed that all necessary security and logistical arrangements are being put in place to ensure the ceremonies are conducted without disruption.
