Bashundhara Kings concluded their AFC Challenge League journey with a 0-2 loss to Kuwait SC on Friday night at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Stadium, finishing their campaign without a single win.
The Bangladeshi champions had already been eliminated after earlier defeats to Oman’s Al-Seeb (2-3) and Lebanon’s Al Ansar (0-3), but were hoping to close out their group stage on a positive note. Instead, Kuwait SC proved too strong on home turf.
The hosts struck almost immediately, with Yousef Al Sulaiman heading in a cross from Sami Al Sanea in the very first minute to give Kuwait SC the lead. Despite spirited efforts from Sunday Emmanuel and Rakib Hossain, the Kings struggled to break down the disciplined Kuwaiti defense.
Just before halftime, Tunisia’s Taha Khenissi doubled the advantage with a clinical strike into the top corner, sending Kuwait SC into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
In the second half, Bashundhara Kings showed more attacking intent and carved out several opportunities. A stoppage-time header from Yousuf Ali came closest, but goalkeeper Khaled Al Rashidi stood firm to preserve the clean sheet.
While Raphael Augusto and Sohel Rana showed flashes of creativity in midfield, the Kings ultimately failed to convert their chances. The defeat left them bottom of Group B with zero points, ending a disappointing continental campaign.
