Ishraque Hossain, a BNP leader, on Wednesday urged Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyan to exercise caution in his remarks and avoid any vindictive actions to help preserve the current relative calm and prevent further unrest.
“Hopefully, Asif Mahmud will help maintain the current calm by showing restraint in his speech and remarks,” Ishraque said during a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club.
He also warned the adviser against even considering retaliatory measures against the officers and employees of Dhaka South City Corporation who participated in recent protests.
“This is a warning. The city residents will not accept any deviation from this. If the movement resumes, it will not be confined to Nagar Bhaban it could spill out onto the streets. This must be avoided,” he cautioned.
