Italy has expressed its opposition to suspending the EU-Israel Association Agreement over alleged human rights violations in Gaza, according to Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with EU colleagues in Brussels, Tajani noted a divergence from Spain’s stance, which has supported suspending the deal. “Our position is different from that of Spain,” Tajani stated, emphasizing Italy’s view on maintaining engagement with Israel.
He underscored the importance of keeping diplomatic relations open, highlighting that such openness has helped facilitate the evacuation of some civilians from Gaza. Italy’s stance reflects a cautious approach, prioritizing dialogue and cooperation amid ongoing tensions in the region.
