The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting rain or thunder showers accompanied by lightning in all divisions, including Dhaka, over the next 24 hours starting from 9 am on Friday.

According to the weather update, most regions including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with occasional lightning and gusty winds. Some areas may see moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The department also expects a slight rise in daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country.

Maritime ports at Chittagong, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number three to ensure safety during the weather event.

Over the past 24 hours until 6 pm Thursday, Mongla recorded the highest temperature at 33.3 degrees Celsius, while Tangail experienced the lowest at 23.3 degrees Celsius until 6 am on Friday.

Meteorologists note that a well-marked low-pressure system over northeast Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal is currently situated over Bihar and nearby areas. Its associated trough extends up to the North Bay, with the monsoon trough running through the center of this low-pressure area from West Bengal to Assam, across central Bangladesh. The monsoon remains active over Bangladesh and is particularly strong over the North Bay.
