A disturbing scene in Sydney’s inner west has left a community shaken after police discovered a man’s body with multiple stab wounds inside a Croydon Park home. Authorities believe the incident may have been a “drug deal gone horribly wrong,” prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Emergency services responded just after 5 pm on Monday following reports raising concerns for the welfare of someone inside the residence on Kembla Street. Officers arrived within minutes and found a man, believed to be in his 50s, dead at the scene. The victim’s identity remains undisclosed as investigations continue.
A 32-year-old man was detained at the property and taken into custody at Burwood Police Station. Superintendent Christine McDonald addressed the media, confirming that the case is being treated as a homicide. She described the scene at the house as “brutal” and emphasized the severity of the crime.
Superintendent McDonald also clarified that police do not believe the incident was linked to domestic violence or gang-related activity, suggesting that the motive might be connected to illicit drug dealings. “This is a gruesome crime,” she stated, highlighting the violent nature of what transpired within the home.
Authorities are now working to establish the victim’s identity and uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event as the investigation unfolds.
