The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally postponed the remaining eight matches of the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) X, citing rising tensions along the Line of Control (LOC) and escalating cross-border hostilities with India.
In a statement released earlier on Friday, the PCB attributed the decision to what it described as “reckless aggression” from India, including the infiltration of 78 drones and the firing of surface-to-surface missiles. The move follows advice from Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, who urged the nation to direct its focus toward the ongoing efforts of Pakistan’s Armed Forces amid the current crisis.
“The PCB and its players stand resolutely in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and our security personnel defending the nation,” the statement emphasized, reflecting the Board’s alignment with national sentiment during these challenging times.
The tournament, which had been progressing without issues until now, will now be paused indefinitely as Pakistan grapples with a situation the PCB described as a time when “cricket must take a respectful pause.”
The PCB also expressed concern for international players and their families, acknowledging the mental health impact of the situation and understanding those who wish to return home amid the prevailing uncertainties.
