Bella Thorne has publicly accused fellow actor Mickey Rourke of on-set misconduct during the filming of the horror movie Girl in 2020, following a recent controversy involving singer JoJo Siwa. On Friday, Thorne took to Instagram to share her “all-time worst” experience working with Rourke, expressing her distress over his behavior.
In her post, Thorne described a specific scene where she was kneeling with her hands zip-tied behind her back. “This f***ing dude. GROSS,” she wrote, recounting how Rourke was supposed to use a metal grinder near her knee but instead directed it toward her genitals through her jeans. “Hitting them over and over again. I had bruises on my pelvic bone,” she revealed. Thorne emphasized that working with Rourke was one of the most difficult experiences of her acting career.
Her accusations come in the wake of reports that Rourke had made “homophobic” remarks towards Siwa on the reality show Celebrity Big Brother UK. Thorne shared a screenshot of a BBC article detailing how the show’s producers had warned Rourke about his comments.
In a follow-up post on X, formerly Twitter, Thorne continued to detail her troubling experience, stating, “So many gross stories of things he made me go thru (sic) on that movie.” She recalled a moment when Rourke, in his final scene, revved his engine to cover her in dirt, which she felt was a deliberate attempt to humiliate her in front of the crew.
Thorne also revealed that she had to go into Rourke’s trailer alone to persuade him to continue with the film, as he was refusing to communicate with the director or producers. “In fact, I had to beg,” she confessed. “Everyone’s work would’ve just been lost and completely for nothing. I didn’t wanna do it. I was uncomfortable, but I did what I was asked to do and what was best for the movie.”
Thorne’s allegations add to the ongoing conversation about misconduct in the entertainment industry, highlighting the challenges many actors face while advocating for their own safety and well-being on set.
