East Coast Weather Alert: Major Temperature Drop and Storms Ahead

1 min read

A significant weather change is sweeping across the east coast, poised to impact eastern New South Wales and Sydney tonight. This shift will bring a dramatic temperature drop, with Sydney’s current 30 degrees expected to plummet to a cooler 20 to 25 degrees by Tuesday.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Miriam Bradbury warned of “a burst of fresh southerly winds and rainfall,” with most of New South Wales at risk for thunderstorms. The Central and Southern Tablelands, along with parts of the Illawarra, are particularly vulnerable to severe storms that could result in heavy rain and flash flooding.

As the week progresses, more showers are anticipated. Meanwhile, Victoria is already experiencing wet weather following a recent heatwave that prompted a record number of ocean rescues. Storms are also a possibility for much of the state this afternoon and evening, with parts of South Australia and Tasmania bracing for similar conditions.
