Hundreds Accuse Former Tycoon Al Fayed in Alleged Decades-Long Sexual Misconduct Scandal

More than 400 individuals have reportedly come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Mohamed Al Fayed, the late billionaire and former owner of Harrods.

The accusations, spanning over three decades, describe a pattern of abuse allegedly occurring at multiple high-profile venues he once owned, including Harrods, Fulham FC, and the Ritz Hotel in Paris.

Representing the Justice for Harrods Survivors group, one attorney described the case as an unprecedented example of corporate abuse. Harrods’ current owners expressed deep shock at the allegations, initiating an investigation to determine if any existing employees were complicit.

Al Fayed, who passed away at 94 last year, was initially accused by over 20 women. Since a documentary and podcast on the subject aired in September, additional allegations of harassment, assault, and rape have surfaced, totaling hundreds of claims from former employees across the UK, North America, Europe, and Asia.

Harrods has already established a compensation scheme for former employees, which operates separately from the growing legal case. On Thursday, the Justice for Harrods Survivors group sent a formal letter to Harrods, signaling the start of legal proceedings. Most claims involve alleged incidents at Harrods, though Fulham FC and the Ritz Paris were also cited as sites of abuse.

At a recent press conference, former Fulham women’s captain Ronnie Gibbons shared her experience, thanking survivors for their bravery in coming forward. “The truth will set us free,” she said, calling for justice and a full reckoning of Al Fayed’s alleged misconduct.
