WC:Bangladesh vs South Africa

1 min read

The first-ever meeting between South Africa and Bangladesh at the mega-event turned out to be a one-sided affair. After asking their opponents to bat first, South Africa were on fire with the ball. Spearheaded by the captain – Shaun Pollock – the hosts reduced the Bangladeshis to 21 for 3 in the ninth over. Bangladesh never recovered from that setback and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Only two batters – Khaled Mashud and Khaled Mahmud – crossed 20. Makhaya Ntini ran through the lower order and finished with four wickets to bowl out the Asian side for 108. South Africa wiped off more than 68 percent of the target before the lunch break. The Proteas’ openers didn’t have to break a sweat as they chased down the score with 38 overs to spare.
