Preparations are underway for the formation of Bangladesh’s next government, even before the February 12 national election and referendum take place. Government sources confirm that 50 official vehicles are being readied for the new cabinet expected to be sworn in shortly after the polls.

The Cabinet Division has begun logistical arrangements assuming a cabinet size of around 45 members including ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers. As part of VVIP protocol, several additional vehicles are also being kept on standby to ensure uninterrupted transport in case of mechanical issues or emergencies.

The Cabinet Division oversees the administrative functions of the new cabinet, while the swearing‑in ceremony is held at Bangabhaban. President Md Shahabuddin will administer the oath, with Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid conducting the proceedings. The prime minister‑designate will take the oath first, followed by cabinet members.

Officials say the Government Transport Pool has been instructed to keep all required vehicles fully prepared ahead of the ceremony. With extra backup cars included, the total number stands at 50 vehicles ready for deployment once the new government is formed.
