Security forces in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province have killed 47 armed infiltrators during a prolonged gun battle near the Afghan border in the Sambaza area of Zhob district. Officials said the group was attempting to cross into Pakistan when troops intercepted them, resulting in heavy exchanges of fire. Most of the infiltrators were killed on the spot, while the rest fled back across the border.
Investigations revealed that all those killed were Afghan nationals with links to the Taliban, and were believed to be trying to join the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. Authorities have not disclosed whether there were any casualties among security personnel.
