16-Year-Old Charged After Fatal Crash Near Geelong

A 16-year-old boy has been charged following a deadly early morning crash in Corio that claimed the life of a 17-year-old passenger.

Police allege the younger teenager was behind the wheel of a Mazda when it struck a pole on School Road around 2 a.m. Sunday. The front-seat passenger died at the scene.

The alleged driver now faces charges including culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.

Emergency services responded quickly to reports of the collision, but the impact proved fatal for the passenger.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court later on Sunday.
