Queensland University Bangladeshi Association organizes get-to-gather

On Sunday (November 26), a gathering of Bangladeshi teachers and students was held at Macassie Park, adjacent to the Kelvin Grove campus of the university, on the initiative of the Queensland University of Technology Bangladeshi Association (QUTBA).

About 50 teachers, staff, PhD students along family members participated in the event.

Chaired by QUTBA President Faisal Chowdhury and moderated by General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Raju, QUTBA Mentor and Professor of School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering Azharul Karim, Acting Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering Prof. Mazharul Shimul, Professor of Business and Law Faculty Saiful Karim, School of Clinical Health Professor Nazrul Islam, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Teacher Sabrina Fawzia, Computer Science Chandni Islam, Research Fellow Abul Bashar, Md. Wahiduzzaman, Ziaur Rahman, and many others gave speeches.

After five long years in such an arrangement, the teachers and students had a discussion and lunch in a charming atmosphere. Students thanked the teachers and teaching staff for sponsoring the event. In the discussion, it was decided that every year the teachers and teaching staff would try to participate in two major events of the organization, Pahela Baishakh and Eid Reunion respectively. Besides, emphasis was placed on taking more initiative to involve the current students in organizing the organization.

The speakers emphasized the necessity of organizing various events of the organization to increase mutual relations between them while being far away from the country and expressed the promise of sincere cooperation from each other’s position in the future. In addition, the organizers put importance on observing language and cultural events with due dignity in order to preserve, nurture, and strengthen the bond between Bengali language and culture among the next generation.
