From now on, Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad will keep Hamas’ expatriate leaders and high command under their surveillance. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Jewish-ruled territory in the Middle East, confirmed this information in a press conference on Wednesday.
In a press conference organized in the capital Jerusalem, Netanyahu said, “I have ordered the Mossad to conduct surveillance on the top leaders of Hamas. From now on, wherever they are in the world, they will be under the surveillance of Mossad.
Almost none of the high command and senior leaders of Hamas, the armed political group that overthrew the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Fatah authorities in the Gaza Strip in 2007, live in Gaza. Almost all of the group’s top leaders live in the Middle Eastern Gulf nation of Qatar. And most of the important second-tier leaders are in political asylum in Lebanon.
