The Pakistan Army has killed 13 militants in two separate operations in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued Sunday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operations took place in Bannu and Mohmand districts, where seven militants were killed in Mohmand and six in Bannu. ISPR said all those killed were members of the banned extremist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliates.
In its statement, ISPR described the militants as “fitna al-khariji” and “India-supported terrorists.” The military added that the operations were based on secret intelligence and remain ongoing, with further action planned if more militants are located.
Since the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan’s border provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have seen a sharp rise in militant activity and attacks, intensifying security challenges for the country.
